Wanted Man!

Part of a Series: Diamonds in the Rough

Through a grant-funded project awarded by the National Historical Publications and Records Commission (NHPRC), the Autry National Center sets out to process approximately 2,000 linear feet of archival material over two years, ending in 2012. Every third week of the month, the Autry Libraries blog will feature collection gems being brought to light by NHRPC Project Archivist Holly Rose Larson.

Wanted Man!

It took me over a year, but I finally found a “wanted” poster in processing the archives of the Autry! Big Devil Pete sure sounds like a bad man. It’s likely that the place they are referring to is Pahroc in Lincoln County, Nevada. But I never did find out what happened to the man they called Big Devil Pete or why he was considered such a bad man.
